Worried by the spate of kidnapping in the Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, the youths of the communities are planning a rally to register their displeasure over the development and also sensitise the people of the need to be security conscious.
President of the Port Harcourt, Rivers State branch of the Ogwashi- Uku Youth Development Association (OYDA), Comrade Jude Osume, who described the situation as “unabated spate of kidnapping in the community,” disclose this to Saturday Mirror yesterday. Osume said that the situation has reached a stage where the youths have decided to take their destinies in their hands.
According to the OYDA leader, youths of the community have concluded plans to stage a rally to protest the increasing wave of kidnapping in the community.
His words, “As youths of Ogwashi-Uku, we are determined to put an end to this evil and abominable act of kidnapping in our community. We will be embarking on a rally very soon to drive home our grievances with the prevailing situation in our community.
We at the OYDA in collaboration with our brothers and sisters nationwide have resolved to take our destiny on our hand in the fight to put an end to kidnapping. We have resolved to embark on a protest march to draw the attention of authorities at all levels to the cry of our people.” The youth leader also appealed to law enforcement agents to brace up to the challenges of kidnapping in the area with a view to bringing the menace to the barest minimum.
