The reckless and murderous antecedents of the Nigerian security forces against unarmed and law abiding citizens in Nigeria, have once again been driven to a potentially dangerous and provocative stage. The sad event that took place at Oraifite in Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra State on Monday 2nd December 2019, confirms it all. The Nigerian lawless jihadi Police Force, Anambra State Command, assisted by the Nigerian Army on the instruction of the Nigerian government, criminally razed down to ashes, the residence of Barrister Ifeanyichukwu Ejiofor, the lead counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Equally set ablaze, is the home of the Barrister’s deceased elder brother, late Reverend Chukwukpelum Ejiofor amongst those of others in the neighborhood. The Nigerian security agents orchestrated this evil act primarily to have Barrister Ifeanyichukwu Ejiofor assassinated.
This is yet another slap on the face of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) by the bloodsucking/bloodspilling Islamic government of Nigeria. What really is the offence of Barrister Ejiofor to the Nigerian government that could warrant such a despicable and state-sponsored assassination attempt on his life and that of his bereaved family members? It should be noted that four unarmed, innocent civilians were murdered in that criminal raid. The global community is hereby put on notice that Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor who is the IPOB lead counsel, only recently visited his home town of Oraifite in Anambra State, from Abuja where he resides, for the burial of his late elder brother, Reverend Chukwukpelum Ejiofor. And since Thursday 27th November 2019, when the funeral ceremony commenced, the Nigerian police has been laying siege around the family compound of the Ejiofors, seeking for opportunity to assassinate the Barrister himself in order to permanently take him off the IPOB.
It is important that the international community, United Nations Human Rights Organization, European Union, African Union, Nigerian Bar Association and the Nigerian Human Rights Commission, appropriately take note of the blatant impunity being committed by the Nigerian government and it’s grossly uncultured security agencies against IPOB on successive basis. The civilised/humane people and governments of the world, should understand that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is being stretched to elastic limit and should there be the choice for coordinated self-defense, nobody should apportion blames.
Recall that on the 14th of September 2017, the same assassination attempt was carried out against the IPOB leader himself, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, in his home town of Afara-ukwu Ibeku in Umuahia, Abia State, by a battalion of the Nigerian military. In that vampiric expedition, over twenty eight (28) able bodied, armless members of IPOB were gruesomely killed. It is clearly obvious to all now that the Islamic government of Nigeria is criminally orchestrating all these to try to see if the potent resolve of Barrister Ifeanyichukwu Ejiofor could be broken, thereby paving the way for his resignation as IPOB legal counsel. He has been secretly pressured before now by these “messengers of death” in Nigeria, to step down from every IPOB related cases which he bluntly turned down. Presently, they have come openly to try to drive home their point as he is being viewed as a threat to the Nigerian judiciary as it concerns the unreasonable, useless, unprofessional and concocted trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
It has now dawned for the world leaders particularly President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyaho, President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Boris Johnson and President Emmanuel Macron amongst others, to break their silence and courageously compel the Nigerian government to organize a referendum on Biafra agitation. This whole issue has to be settled once and for all. The Nigerian government through the instrumentality of it’s lawless armed forces, is persistently laying siege in Biafraland and have sent quite a number of innocent Biafrans to their untimely death with absolutely no justifiable reason beside their untainted resolve to have the sovereign nation of Biafra fully restored. All these assassination attempts on the life of ardent Biafran restoration activists like Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his lawyer, Barrister Ifeanyichukwu Ejiofor, are dangerous signals whose consequences Nigeria and her administrators cannot be able to contain. The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), should come out and pointedly condemn this callous act of the state on their member who has committed no crime.
There is no doubt that the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) globally, is not lying low about this act of criminality. Enough is enough!
