Over 65 Igbo people dead as 3 explosions rock Sabon Gari Kano

Kano-explosionsInformation reaching 247ureports. indicates that multiple explosion has rock the minority city of Sabon Gari in Kano State. According to initial reports, three explosions were heard – one along Enugu road and two along New road. But explosions were said to have occurred – near International Hotel. The explosion occurred at about 9:15pm Monday night.

Preliminary reports state that the area of the explosion occurred within a popular night hangout where indoor and outdoor bars are located. Many hotels are housed in the area.

According to the police public relations officer in Kano who confirmed the explosion to 247ureports.com – indicated that the police commissioner and the Assistant Inspector General of Police have already arrived at the scene of explosion. Also, the men and women of the joint task force are said to have arrived the scene of the bomb blast.

 

The bomb was centred around 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44 New Road in Sabon Gari – an area filled with eateries and outdoor lounge – where predominantly south easterners frequent after hours to entertain themselves. Also a Pentecostal Church located at 40 New road was not spared. The Church was said to be filled with worshippers when the bomb went off. None of the worshippers inside the church were reported to have made it out alive.

It is recalled that last year, the same area along New road opposite Ado Bayero square – that a small bomb explosion occurred. No lives were lost but a sport utility vehicle was damaged. The bombing was then tagged a ‘mock’ exercise.

According to eyewitness account from the scene of the bomb blast, about 40 dead bodies were seen littered around the New road bomb scene – the security agents were said to be transporting the corpses to nearby hospitals.

Other casualties are said to have been recorded at the Enugu by Igbo road bomb explosion site. On the ground assessment indicate that over 25 dead bodies were immediately seen littered along Enugu road.
