Gov-Peter-Obi-002Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State has received Leadership Excellence Award from the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers.The national executive of the institution presented the award during a courtesy call on the Governor at the Governor’s Lodge at the weekend.Presenting the award, the President of the institution, Mr Emeka Eleh said the honour was in recognition of his great achievements in leadership and service to humanity.Eleh noted that the Governor had made giant strides in massive infrastructural development and providing the state with the best road networks in the country in spite of its poor revenue profile.He said the Governor had equally brought simplicity and decency in governance.He thanked Governor Obi for giving members of the institution opportunity to serve in his administration.Eleh said the institution was ready to collaborate with the state government to promote effective land management to maximize its potential and value for wealth-creation and revenue-generations.Responding, Governor Obi while thanking them for the gesture, commended them for contributing towards nation building and tasked them to be part of the present efforts.He discouraged them from using public resources to acquire private property.Obi restated the importance of dialogue in furthering peace, unity and national cohesion as according to him, it affords everybody opportunity to project their views and cross fertilize ideas.The Governor, who promised to allocate the land for their State Secretariat, explained that his administration was able to achieve so much because of proper planning and judicious use of available resources.Also speaking, the National Chairman of APGA and a member of the institution, Chief Victor Umeh said Governor Obi had distinguished himself in service to the people and described his approach to governance as a model that should be emulated.Chief Umeh said the State Government and the Institution should collaborate to ensure quality land management.
