Governor-Babangida-AliyuGovernors of the 19 northern states have thrown their weight behind the national conference proposed

by President Goodluck Jonathan in his Independence Day broadcast on Tuesday. This was just as the Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu said the North was not afraid of the conference, saying the region would rather go confidently to the conference and discuss matters affecting Nigeria with other Nigerians.

Aliyu stated this in Minna on the occasion of distribution of 50 Toyota Hiace buses to the 25 local government councils in Niger State under the SURE-P Mass Transit Scheme.

“No matter the nature of the dialogue, the bottom line will be what type of Nigeria we want. We welcome this desire for national dialogue,” he said.

Aliyu said the crisis in the PDP was meant to stop the trend of dictatorship in the party, adding that some people were taking advantage of the crisis to go to Abuja and collect money.
