With particular reference to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s recent post on his Facebook page, comes also a reminder of Bishop Matthew Kukah’s homily which was titled “Nigeria is not worth dying for”. The Bishop stated this at the Good Shepherd Major Seminary Kaukau, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State before the burial of the late seminarian killed by Fulani killer Herdsmen in the State.
The clergyman lamented that citizens of some countries were willing to risk their lives for their nations but such is not the case in Nigeria. He alleged that office holders are only loyal to their positions and not to their country.
He said, “Nigeria is at a point where we must call for a verdict. There must be something that a man, nay, a nation should be ready to die for. “Sadly, or even tragically today, Nigeria, does not possess that set of goals or values for which any sane citizen is prepared to die for her.
“Perhaps, I should correct myself and say that the average office holder is only ready to protect his office but not the nation that has given him or her that office.” He regretted that the consistent efforts being made to build Nigeria has failed, alleging that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd.), remains the only President in the history of the country that has run the “most nepotistic and narcissistic government ever known in history.”
“The Yorubas say that if it takes you twenty-five (25) years to practice madness, how much time would you have to put it into real life? We have practiced madness for too long. “Our attempt to build a nation has become like the agony of “Sisyphus” who angered the gods and had to endure the frustration of rolling a stone up the mountain. Each time he got near the top, the gods would tip the stone back and he would go back to start all over again. What has befallen our nation?” he conclusively asked.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has also said the same thing, directing it particularly to the Nigerian police and the military. He said: “It seems men and women of the Nigerian Police have started the process of acquiring some common sense at last. My advice to them as with those serving in the Nigerian army, especially those from the Middle Belt and the South, with the following:
1) Resign from the Nigerian Police with immediate effect as most are now doing in the army. Burn your uniform and join the revolution.
2) Prepare to lead the upcoming revolution in your area because the same Nigerian youths in the Middle Belt and in the South have Fulani commanders that want you KILLED. These are the only people honestly fighting for a better future for you and your children.
3) Fulani Janjaweed controlled security apparatus in Nigeria is using you to kill your own people while they groom and tolerate terrorists in their own terror ravaged North. They see you as fools.
You kill your own youths only for Fulani to come and take over your village with their terrorism. Why is it that your fellow Fulani Janjaweed police officers do not kill their own young people in the core Arewa Sharia North despite the preponderance of terrorism? Think! This is the height of idiocy, say no to the death of your own youths, reject Nigeria police today.
4) Another reason why you must not go back to work is this; the same Fulani terrorists and bandits that kill you earn more than five times your salary, courtesy of their fellow Fulanis who are in control of Aso Rock. Nigeria is the only country in the world where the government pay killers and terrorists more than their own police officers. Use your brain for once and stop doing the bidding of Fulani terrorists in Aso Rock”.
Is Nigeria worth dying for? It is only a fool that will stake his life for her. It is high time you think about your life, your family and your friends. Can you beat your chest and say that since you joined the Police or the Military, that you are happy doing the work? How much are you being paid?
How are you respected as a person serving his or her country? You really need to sit down and evaluate your life. Why would you consider going back as a Nigerian police or army officer? Is it because of the respect the country has for you when you die in active service or what?
Now that you have heard from the Nigerian government that repentant Boko Haram terrorists are being paid one hundred and fifty thousand naira (N150,000) monthly with your salary far less, you really need to pity both yourself and your family.
