NIGERIA: The Appalling Silence And The History Of Massacre

One thing we don’t know about the Fulani conquest of Hausa land is that it was their silence and inability to stand together that enabled their total defeat. Prior to the advent of the Fulani, the Hausa had established well organised city states. These states included Katsina, Daura, Kano Zazzau (Zaria), Biram, Gobir and Borno. Some of these were conquered and re-established by the Fulani.

The Jihad of Shaihu Usman dan Fodio , was a Fulani military conquest of the present-day northern Nigeria and some parts of Cameroon. The war began 1802 after Usman dan Fodio, a foreigner and a prominent Islamic scholar and teacher, was exiled from Gobir by King Yunfa, one of his former students. Usman dan Fodio assembled a Fulani army to lead in jihad against the Hausa kingdoms of the north of Nigeria. The forces of Usman dan Fodio ‘slowly’ took over more and more of the Hausa kingdoms, capturing Gobir in 1808 and executing Yunfa. The war resulted in the creation of the Sokoto Caliphate, headed by Usman dan Fodio, which became one of the largest states in Africa in the 19th century. His success inspired similar jihads in Western Africa.

The Hausa states maintained “I don’t care attitude” as the Fulani kept conquering states after state, till all of them were totally annihilated. That’s how the Fulani kept taking them one after the other. Had it been they joined and resisted the bloodthirsty Fulani killers, what is happening today in Nigeria wouldn’t be happening. Today, Southern Kaduna is on fire. Gory pictures of slaughtered Southern Kaduna Christian are flooding the internet. The world is silent. Busy reporting the shooting of adults in New Zealand, while a rampaging Fulani jihadists are wiping off children in Nigeria.

The President of Nigeria seems to be supporting the killings going on in southern Kaduna. His actions says much to that end. President Mohammadu Buhari was quick to condemn the killing of Muslims in a foreign country, while his Fulani fellow Muslims are seriously carrying out an act of genocide against the indigenous people of Southern Kaduna.

Everybody seemed to be in their own comfort zone saying nothing. Not as if the Fulani have not tried other places. They have tasted the waters in every region. They have killed in the West. They have brought hundreds of death in Enugu, Delta, Rivers and Ebonyi. Yet some of us are silent. Some are even saying that the Kaduna people deserve it. We are not saying these things because of foolishness of Benue Indigenes who have signed fully into slavery. No! We are saying it for ourselves. If we can report and expose the killing going on unreported in Kaduna, it will make our people to be aware and at alert. It will also make the international community to understand that One Nigeria is simply a filthy burial ground. We should always read history and learn from it as not repeat the mistake of the past.

Where is the Christian bodies in the face of these massacres going on in this country. Why the deadly silence? IPOB members were killed by the Nigeria soldiers and the Church kept mute. Some that talked, blamed the killed and exonerated their killers. The Ozubulu Church massacre happened, the Church colluded with the government to misinform the people. Stating that it was a drug war. A drug war in 6 am mass? An investigation completed in 30 minutes after the horrible incident.

What of the Omoku massacre? They failed to agree that the terrorists now dwell among us. Both Boko Haram and Fulani sleeper cells are among us. Once they are activated, they will carry out their terror actions and our leaders who bow for the caliphate will term it ‘Ezeship’ tussle. Are they not already gifting Fulani herdsmen our ancestral lands? In years to come, if care is not taken, we will have indigenous Fulani people in Igbo land. We have refused to read the hand writing on the wall.

When are we going to face our fears? Why are the Church leaders lying to the people? It took the killing of two Catholic priests and their faithfuls as they were celebrating Holy Mass by the Fulani people for the Christian bodies to demonstrate. The numerous Benue people killed and buried en masse didn’t touch them. The killing of Kaduna people did not move them. In some African countries, it is the Church that is stopping the government from impunity. But here in Nigeria, the Church aids the government, speaks for them. The so called pastors are enjoying private jets in a country that is the capital of poverty. When you confront the politicians, poor citizens will troop out to defend them and insult you. They say you are a mere teacher that can’t feed himself, that’s why you are talking. When you call out pastors, a sick man drinking only anointing oil and water will remind you of “Touch not My Anointed And My Prophet Do No Harm”. They ask you to pray for Nigeria, while they take huge donations from the same government killing you.

Let me tell you the blunt truth now. It isn’t the fornication you are committing that is causing the killings going on in Nigeria. Neither is it punishment from God. Any man of God telling you that it is the sins of Nigerians that are causing the evil going on in Nigeria is a thief. Why didn’t same sins stop him from living extravagant lifestyle. Brethrens, your problem is not only the politicians. Your men of God and your mindsets are also a problem. The Islamization is here and in full force. Are you still doubting it?

Just like the silence of the Hausa people made them slaves in their own land, we might pay if we refuse to speak out and act fast.
