NgigeGovernorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Chris Ngige, has said the APC will not participate in the forthcoming local government election in Anambra State.

He said this when he addressed a press conference in Akwa, after a crucial meeting with stakeholders and APC aspirants on the said election.

The local council election is scheduled to hold on January 11, 2014.

But the APC has subsequently directed all the party councillorship and chairmanship candidates, as well as its supporters to boycott

the election.

Besides, the governorship candidate commended the people of Anambra State for their steadfastness and patience, alleging that “few days to the election, voters’ register has not been given to parties and the last voters register used by Nigeria Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in conducting the gubernatorial election has not been reviewed, hence APC is insisting on an authentic voters register.”

He berated INEC over what he described as “glaring signs of the non- readiness of INEC, hence doubt their ability to conduct and ensure a free, fair and credible election.”

He, however, alleged that there were desperate moves by the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in collaboration with INEC, to ensure that “APC is completely excluded from all elective positions in the state against the will of the people.”

The lawmaker, who represents Anambra Central Constituency, also took a swipe at the acting chairman of Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, ANSIEC, Mr Sylvester Okonkwo, for requesting political parties to submit the list of candidates and their forms to the commission “when issues leading to a free, fair and credible election in the state are yet to be addressed.”
