LEADERS OF THE EAST AND THE ARROGANCE OF THE NORTH

Northern Nigeria has maintained a measure of blatant arrogance since civil war days up until date. The North, following that moment of revolution in Nigeria, went against the soldiers from the Eastern part and got almost all of them serving in the army within the North, summarily executed. They turned their killing machine against the Eastern civilians yet residing in that part of the country, in the absence of their brethren soldiers. Children were gruesomely massacred in their schools. Women were raped in their numbers before execution. Wombs of pregnant women were ripped open, with their unborn babies cut in pieces while their mothers were left to painfully die in their own pools of blood. Men were swiftly killed at random. Properties worth fortunes were looted and destroyed at will.

Virtually all those presently parading themselves as Northern leaders, were accomplices to these heinous crimes. Muhammadu Buhari, Mamman Daura, etcetera, were masterminds. Easterners were gruesomely killed in Sokoto, Kano, Jos, Benue and even in Lagos. Discountenance all the junks being churned out from Lagos-based media outlets. The ongoing unprovoked attacks in Lagos against Easterners did not start today. There were such killings in the city of Lagos way back in 1966 after a military coup det’at a handful of soldiers from the Eastern extraction fully participated in. Together with the North, that coup was tagged Igbo coup, giving them the leverage to massively kill Ndigbo. My usage of the word “Ndigbo” is inclusive of Ijaw, Oron, Efik and every other ethnic group in the old Eastern region of Nigeria who automatically get grouped as Igbos whenever the North and the West want to kill. These ironically cease to be known and addressed as Igbos when the Nigerian evil policy of “divide and rule” is activated.

Easterners started running back home to the East as the killings persisted. They were ambushed and killed in droves and thrown into the Benue River by the Middle Beltans. They connived with their Northern brethren to decimate the Easterners who sojourned in the Northern region. The fortunate ones that made it back home, came back maimed. They lost their legs, hands, ears and eyes. Stinking dead heads of relatives that were retrieved were equally brought home by courageous survivors for burial. It was really horrible and provokably disgusting past for the Easterners.

These chronicled accounts provoked the secessionist bid of yesteryears that gave birth to the Aburi Accord. General Yakubu Gowon who today, shamelessly gallivants around praying for Nigeria, abrogated the Aburi accord and with that singular act of callousness, the only opportunity for enduring peace was thwarted. He instead, created States out of the then existing regions with which the then regional governments, were abolished. It was actually Yakubu Gowon that destroyed what was previously known as regional government in Nigeria and in it’s place, brought the imposition of this retrogressive federal system of government. In a swift response, the Easterners declared their region (entire old Eastern region), the Biafran Republic. This orchestrated the war of attrition the combined Northern (Hausa-Fulani) and their Western Yoruba) accomplices waged awr against Ndigbo, the Biafran people. This level of cruelty therefore becomes incomprehensible how thousands of people including children, women and men would be gruesomely killed for the so-called unity against their will and declared republic.

The war lasted for good uninterrupted three years. The seemingly weakened and grossly mistreated Easterners surprisingly defended themselves with all in their disposal. To them, it was a for survival. It was an allegiance to preserve themselves and their future generations. Men went into the war sharing limited and sub-standard weapons. Due to lack of arms and ammunition, they engaged the enemies in free for all physical duel. It is noteworthy to state here that Biafrans in their ingenuity and desperation to save their land, resorted to the invention of lots of weaponry. They bravely refined their own oil, flew their own war planes and manufactured their own armored vehicles. It was really three years of horror, pain and unprecedented inventions for the Easterners. Foreign powers like Russia, Britain, Egypt amongst others, ably backed Nigeria with mercenaries and weapons. They very erroneously tagged Biafrans, rebels.

At the end of the war in 1970, the North and the West took their arrogance to all time high. They stole all the monies belonging to the Easterners deposited in all Nigerian banks, offering just a paltry sum of twenty pounds each to the Igbo surviving victims who could only provide their bank documents. They equally confiscated all Ndigbo properties in what they termed “abandoned properties” within Arewa and Yoruba lands. We should desist therefore from listening to peddlers of falsehood who say that Igbo properties were not seized in Lagos. This is a lie that has unfortunately survived for decades now and we must strive to destroy such. All the properties belonging to late General Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu’s father were all declared abandoned by the Yorubas (Westerners).

All the civil servants and soldiers of Eastern extraction, were either forcefully retired or sacked. The North started installing their own version of leadership in the East. Men (stooges) that could scheme against their own people were empowered. Once a ready and willing Igbo or Ijaw person who can sabotage his own people was spotted, he would automatically be appointed into a position of leadership. This is exactly how most of the leaders we yet have in our midst today even at the top echelon of leadership, emerged. It has thus remained as a recurring decimal at the detriment of the Biafran people.

This is primarily the reason why Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, a politician on the platform of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), could support President Muhammadu Buhari of All Progressives Congress (APC). The same President that gruesomely killed and is yet killing Igbo youths, with many others still been hunted down, arrested, tortured and incarcerated. That is the same reason why Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State can brazenly rig the state election in favour of Muhammadu Buhari with twenty-five percent record. It is the same reason why Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State did absolutely nothing when the indigenes came under serial attacks of the Fulani killer herdsmen, with many of them helplessly murdered. This exact criminal group is what Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State is seriously aiding, fast tracking the Islamisation agenda of the Fulani caliphate against his own people. Leaders in Eastern Nigeria have been subservient to the hegemonic oligarchy of the North. They all scheme and fight to exert their relevance before their Islamic masters. Imagine that these crop of leaders were what Biafrans had in 1966. They would have fully supported and aided the total and complete decimation of Ndigbo in the love and service of the Fulani caliphate.

For over fifty years, the North has persistently stood against the emergence of genuine leaders of the people of the old Eastern region (Biafraland). The instrumentality of federally controlled Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has always been employed in the selection of slaves from Igbo origin to exert their influence upon the people. And that is why even with the wave of resentment exhibited across the region by the people against their governors, virtually all of them will shamelessly stage a re-run as their first tenures elapse.

The APC controlled federal government led by Muhammadu Buhari has heightened this arrogance in every sphere of governance. Besides the killing of the Biafran people (Easterners), he has also marginalized the Igbos in his appointments into his cabinet. He has displayed enormous disregard and disrespect to the people both publicly and privately, and yet the governors across Igboland unrepentantly give him their unflinching support. If this is not a testament of a defeated people, I implore you to tell me then what it is.

The present generation of Biafrans MUST fight and defeat the stronghold on our people by the Fulani hegemonic vampires. We must dethrone these hooliganic and shameless crop of Northern enslaved leaders in our land if we must survive as a people. Their “divide and rule” policy must be denied continuity in every shape or form. We must understand that the enemies within us are more potently dangerous than the ones outside. We must see today’s leaders as workers of iniquity contracted by the Fulani caliphate as our prime enemies that must not only be defeated but totally dethroned. We must not leave custody of our power and mandate in the hands of imbeciles, vampires, hypocrites and saboteurs (efulefus) who are readily prepared to justify the killing of our youths.

This is the time to permanently halt the Northern arrogance and despotism against us for it is only when this is achieved that we can truly become free and enjoy our God given inheritance as a people.
