IPOB: SEPA’s Call To Revoke Kanu’s Bail, A Handiwork Of Unscrupulous Govt. Agents, Should Be Disregarded

The irrational call made by a faceless and non-existent group under the aegis of the South East Peoples Assembly, SEPA, to the Federal High Court, Abuja, to revoke the bail granted to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is not only mischievous but a deliberate intention to cause chaos in the country and as such, should be totally neglected.

Although we can hardly decipher when this group reared its ugly head, it is quite apparent that their mission is not to promote and rebuild the South East but to bring it down on its knees with the help and tutelage of its mischievous paymasters suspected to be unconnected with the APC-led Federal government who are obviously unhelpful and on disarray at the recent turn out of events in the Southeast and South-South, as regards the hurricane blowing Biafra struggle.

SEPA, to start with, is not a known organization in the Southeast and its objectives cannot be said to be for the betterment of the Southeast region, if after several months of campaign and protests for Kanu’s release from illegal detention by good spirited individuals in the region, they will come up to demand for his unlawful incarceration.

We wonder what the so-called group stand for if they are oblivious and can’t recognize that by those spurious and stringent bail conditions, Kanu’s fundamental human rights has been breached. If this anti-people group is not an evil establishment of the federal government, then it is understandable that they are only looking for cheap relevance.

The SEPA President, Prince Chukwuemeka Okorie, before calling for Kanu’s re-arrest, should explain their objectives and visible achievements or contributions to the economic and sociocultural growth of the Southeast otherwise, it will be declared as a cog in the wheel of progress of the Southeastern people and a government instrument of destruction.

Is SEPA advocating that Kanu’s liberty and fundamental rights be snatched away from him simply because he is fighting for the total freedom of his people from alien invasions? Did Nnamdi Kanu compel people to Sit-at-home in remembrance of the fallen heroes? Has he conducted himself in a violent manner? What is their concern in the number of people the IPOB leader chooses to commune with? What proven offence has he committed that he cannot be allowed to express himself freely via any medium? What concerns SEPA if Nnamdi Kanu should hold any rally today?

So long as we are concerned, Nnamdi Kanu has been of good conduct since his belated release from detention and has not constituted any civil unrest or nuisance to the country. SEPA is rather the one unnecessarily calling for chaos and destruction of the country by instigating the Chief Judge of the High Court to revoke his bail, therefore, there’s no iota of doubt that SEPA rather than been an agent of peace and unity, is an agent of destruction and character defamation of which they will never succeed.

We find it very worrying and unfortunate that SEPA didn’t rise when the Southeast people are going through all manner of tribulations, marginalization, oppression, brutal harassment and killings orchestrated by the federal government. They never condemned the gross human rights abuse and flagrant disobedience of court orders by the government but are quick to quote the law in respect to revoking Kanu’s bail.

SEPA, as an anti-people establishment, cannot speak for the Igbo people on the issue of Biafra as their voluntary compliance of the Sit-at-home directive, is a resounding indication that they are fed up with the anomalies of the Nigerian State, hence, seeking for a peaceful way to exit the geographical contraption.

If mischievous and disgruntled elements in SEPA are envious of the legacy and achievements laid down by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, they should rather thrive to champion their own cause and not seek to create unnecessary confusion and problems to the IPOB leader and the Biafra struggle at large because IPOB is a moving train that crushes any obstacle it encounters on its way.

SEPA should be made to understand that the Nigerian geographical entity is no longer legitimate since its forceful amalgamation and expiration on January, 2014. Neither Nnamdi Kanu nor IPOB has called for violence or a civil war as a means of achieving independence, rather what they are asking for is a viable means of resolution through a peaceful referendum that is capable of determining the choice of the people instead of a compromised group like SEPA speaking for the people without authorization.

Nnamdi Kanu, as a peaceful crusader of the freedom of the people, has not violated the bail conditions handed to him, hence, it is totally uncalled for and unguided for anyone to call for his arrest as he had always operated within the confines of the international law in the pursuit of self-determination. Therefore, SEPA, should exercise extreme caution and constraints while engaging on acts that will further cause chaos and abnormalities in the country.
