The clamor through peaceful agitations for the independence of Biafra across Biafran territories, has honestly been a worthwhile experience. Biafrans, despite diverse shades of horrific persecutions and provocations in the hands of the Nigerian government, have exceptionally remained undaunted. This restoration struggle has lasted for years without any commensurate response from the Islam-infested United Nations nor other salient players in global politics. This position has however, raised some very serious concerns amongst Biafrans who are deeply oppressed through what they daily experience in the British contrapted Nigeria. Countless number of peaceful individual freedom fighters whose rights of expression is it, have either been gruesomely murdered, maimed, arrested or incarcerated. This catalog of atrocities steadily being meted out against Biafrans across Nigeria, account for the dogged clamor for Biafra referendum. It is remained a civilised democratic process reasonably fashioned out by men of conscience globally, for the oppressed to unfetteredly express their political desires.
WHAT IS REFERENDUM?
Referendum simply means a democratic process in which indigenous citizens have the right to exercise their choices through the instrumentality of the ballot based on definite proposals. It is freely giving the people the right of untainted decision on what they truly want for their future and where they intend to belong.
Nigeria is not and can never be the Biafrans’ identitificational abode. Therefore the need to truly and rightly get restored back to their inheritance as an indigenous people cannot be compromised. The encagement of Biafrans as slaves by the enemies for over 100 years now can no longer be condoned hence the outright calls for referendum which is quite imminent.
THE IMPORTANCE OF BIAFRA INDEPENDENCE VIA REFERENDUM
Referendum for Biafra will very positively strengthen the sovereignty restoration effort. Through referendum, the Indigenous People of Biafra will be accorded unhindered opportunity of mandatorily, effecting the much anticipated change. Referendum will enable the citizens of Biafra to freely and fairly exercise their franchise, in resolving difficult significant decisions diplomatically, across Biafraland.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REFERENDUM AND ELECTION
A Referendum is superior to an election. In a referendum, the people vote on specific questions on locations of choice/independence while in an election, individual representatives are chosen to serve. Through election, the elected can be removed or installed going by popular choice in civilised democracies.
Another name for REFERENDUM is PLEBISCITE which popularly centres on choice of sovereignty. In the year 1975, referendum was held in the United Kingdom on the question of her remaining an integral part of the European Union while in 1998, another was held in Northern Ireland to ratify the “Good Friday Agreement”. All these revolve around people’s untainted decisions.
Meanwhile, Biafrans remain passionately resilient and unstoppable in their pursuit for the total restoration of the sovereign nation of Biafra via peaceful and legitimate process known as referendum. This is to determine their fate as an indigenous people through the exercise of their civic rights. Through this medium of expressive choice, their intent across Biafraland will come to the fore. The widely anticipated choice of the people will definitely bring to a permanent end, the wave of unjust and inhuman treatments being meted out on daily basis against innocent Biafran freedom fighters under the auspices of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, ably piloted by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the director of Radio Biafra London and Biafra Television.
Biafrans and all lovers of freedom are at this juncture, urged to up the game and unrelentlessly hit the world with the campaign for Biafra referendum. The importance of this referendum gospel has to be vigorously highlighted to the knowledge of every Biafran family across board. A day of jubilation for the oppressed and the captives is fastly approaching. A call for referendum is not and can never be a call for war. Let Biafrans arise and play the men, for our time is come.
