The surprise and unexpected reappearance on Friday 19th October 2018 and the subsequent live broadcast on Sunday 21st October 2018, of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the highly intelligent, resilient and courageous leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, hit the global community like a tsunami. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a man who believes in tactical approach in whatever steps he deems taking in relation to the Biafra independence drive from the Nigerian defunct federation. It is not surprising therefore that he commanded the world’s largest audience in a single radio broadcast as he vividly gave the direct narrative of his ordeals associated with the murderous raid of the Nigerian army in his Afara-ukwu Ibeku residence on the 14th of September, 2017. On this fateful day, the Buhari led Nigerian government failed in it’s attempt to assassinate Mazi Nnamdi Kanu through the instrumentality of genocidal military expedition tagged Operation Python Dance II, which claimed many innocent Biafrans lives in Aba, Umuahia, Isiala Ngwa and Obigbo respectively, few days before the despicable raid in the palace of His Royal Majesty (HRM) Eze Israel Okwu-Kanu, the father of the IPOB leader. On the 14th of September 2017, the Nigerian army fully backed with armored tanks and aerial surveillance aircrafts, murderously invaded the compound, killing 28 innocent, unarmed Biafrans including Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s cousin – Adaku and a security dog, Jack.
It was during his reappearance and his broadcast that ensued, that the world was made to fully understand that it was the brevity and gallant barricade of the IPOB armless youths which was described by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu himself, as IPOB Volunteer Security Guards, that helped in evacuating from the assassination onslaught of the rampaging Nigerian soldiers. If not for the presence, rare intellectual stamina and security intelligence of these IPOB courageous volunteers, the fundamental aim of the Nigerian government was to summarily eliminate Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, thereby forestalling his planned appearance in court to answer for the bogus treasonable felony case levied against him. However, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who has remained incommunicado since 14th September 2017 till Friday 19th October 2018, when he was seen virally praying at the wailing Wall in Jerusalem, the capital city of Israel, was receiving medical treatment occasioned by severe injuries he sustained during the bloody raid in his home. He reappeared based on his total recovery from the sustained injuries from the Nigerian military incursion aimed at eliminating him over a year ago.
What is exceptionally remarkable and mysterious is how Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s broadcast completely swallowed the political discourse the world over. Virtually, every mainstream media outlet within the continents of Africa, Asia and the Western world, have seriously been publishing extracts from the broadcast. Although, both accurate and twisted reports from the broadcast have been trending. It could be recalled that just few days prior to the eventful reappearance of the IPOB leader in the holy land of Israel, it has been the emergence of two Fulani political ‘old horses’ on the political scene of Nigeria, namely Retired General Muhammadu Buhari and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as flagbearers of All Progressive Congress (APC) Party and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) respectively, in the planned Nigerian Presidential Election billed for 2019. These were trending news in the Nigerian media in the country on daily basis. Presently however,the reappearance and the legendary broadcast of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on Sunday 21st October 2018, came at the bewilderment of many as a thunderstorm and completely gulped all political discourse in Nigeria, Africa and of course, the entire global community. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has once again, proven in no mistaken terms that he remains both a pacesetter and an action liner on political concerns on the global scene.
It was really surprising that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is yet alive and bubbling because most people all over the world including Biafrans, believed that the Nigerian army which murderously invaded his residence on 14th September 2017, may have killed him after all. Now that the world has heard it direct first hand, from him that he was seriously injured during the military raid, it is legitimately expedient that Nigerian government be held accountable for attempting to assassinate him. It is time for the Jewish community globally and the Israeli government which recently promulgated the Jewish State new law for the protection of all persecuted Jews in troubled regions, the British government with which he voluntarily adopted his citizenship and the Biafran people all over the world, to pointedly place demands before the international community that the Nigerian government should explain it’s attempted murder on an innocent man.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a Jew by ancestry, a Judaist by religion, a Biafran by indigenous identity, a British and an Israeli by citizenship and an Igbo by tribe at the first instance. The Nigerian government has callously committed a war crime by attempting to assassinate an innocent man just because of his inalienable right to agitate for self-determination. The Nigerian government has brazenly contravened an international law by willfully abusing his fundamental human rights. The continued silence of the global community over this heinous crime orchestrated by the Nigerian State is tantamount to a time bomb awaiting explosion any moment from now.
Why must the world be standing aloof and be watching the Nigerian government desecrating all known international protocols and instruments with brazen acts of impunity in their despotic bid to truncate the independence of Biafra? Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has obviously recovered from the injuries he sustained from the assassination attempt on his life. The world is hereby keenly awaiting what commensurate punishment relevant international bodies will mete out against the government of Nigeria, following the glaring irrefutable revelations of the IPOB leader during his Radio Biafra London global live broadcast last Sunday 21st October, 2018.
