Gov-okorochaGovernor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has urged other state governors yet to defect to All Progressives Congress (APC) to do so without delay. The Imo governor assured them that their political interest is guaranteed in the party than the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor also urged members of the National Assembly who want to join the APC to do so without hesitation, saying that the court action being taken by the PDP against some of the governors who defected to APC was only aimed at discouraging others itching to join the party.
Governor Okorocha maintained that the “the law is very clear on elected officers who want to defect to another political party.” Governor Okorocha made the plea at the Government House, Owerri, when some political stakeholders in the South-East geo-political zone visited him.
He explained that for the first time in the political history of the country when members of other political parties including the ruling party would be defecting to a party that is not in power at the centre. According to him, with the way people from all the geo-political zones in the country have been trooping into the APC, the party has become the most visible national political party at the moment.
He commended the former chairman of PDP in Kaduna state, Alhaji Audi Yaro Makama, former commissioners in the state and a host of others who recently defected to APC, describing the APC as a moving train every patriotic Nigerian must be desirous to catch up with.
Chief Moses Izuka Mboji who responded said the coming of APC into the political landscape of Nigeria was timely and said the Igbos have a bright future in APC especially with Governor Okorocha’s leading role in the party.national mirror
