army-03WARRI— Fresh communal crisis is brewing in Okerenkoko community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State over the invasion of the community by soldiers, last Thursday
To stem the ugly development,  community leaders have petitioned  President Goodluck Jonathan asking for a redress.Leaders under the Okerenkoko National Development Forum, led by Chief Michael Johnny, through their lawyer, L.O. Ayoro, had written a petition to the President, dated January 24, 2014, alleging that the soldiers were sponsored by a renown former militant leader. The lawyer also noted that the ex-militant leader with the aid of a director-general of a federal agency is  opposed to any good development initiated by elite of the forum
The letter reads in part: “We have the instruction of our client, Okerenkoko National Development Forum, to make this letter of petition to your exalted office, being of urgent national concern to prevent further breakdown of law and order in Okerenkoko community in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State.”The petition states, in particular, that: “On 23rd day of January, 2014, several men of the army where deployed to Okerenkoko community putting it under siege till the time of writing the petition and appealed to the President to urgently intervene.”
