President of the Kaduna chapter of the apex body of Igbo cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Austin Ameachi has assured that Igbo people resident in Kaduna State and the North in general would not run away from the region, despite huge losses to Boko Haram insurgency over the years.
He gave this assurance while speaking with newsmen shortly after the inauguration of the New Executive Council of Ndigbo following their selection at the weekend to lead the Kaduna branch.
Their selection came as a result of the death of the former leader of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Kaduna, Engineer Andrew Nwaekwe.
The new Ohanaeze executive said Igbo investments in the North alone amounted to over N40 billion, and because of that, there was no way the people could abandon such investments despite insecurity in the zone.
He added that the Igbo people should ensure sound leadership in order to maintain good relationship between them and their host communities for the sake of their businesses.
