Andrew “Beef” Johnston was our special guest for day three of the Valspar Championship, and his interviewing skills proved as good as his golf game as he welcomed Graeme McDowell to the Sky Cart.
McDowell admitted it was a “surreal” experience to be interviewed by his good friend as he reflected on an erratic one-under 71, a day after holing a 30-foot par putt on the final green which ensured he made the halfway cut on the number.
The highlight of G-Mac’s third round was a “ridiculous” hole-out from a greenside bunker for an unlikely birdie at the par-three eighth, and the former US Open champion insisted he was very close to regaining his best form.
But his attempts at asking Beef a question were shot down by our guest host, who then demanded to know why he was overlooked for an invite to McDowell’s Orlando restaurant in favour of Jason Day.
