UMEHThe All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned Chief Victor Umeh of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to stop

desecrating the grave of the Late Igbo Leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

APC said in a statement in Awka yesterday that if he were alive, the Ikemba Nnewi would not have condoned Umeh’s illegal actions.

Umeh had been in the habit of going near the grave of Ojukwu in Nnewi each time he obtained a victory in court or at the poll.

Part of the APC statement, signed by the Anambra State Interim Chairman of the party, Chief Amechi Obidike (Enyi-Aguleri), reads: “We wish to encourage him (Umeh) to find other uses for his time and God-given potential. But whatever he decides to do, we warn him to desist from desecrating the hallowed and sacred grave of His Excellency, the departed Dim Ikemba Odumegwu Ojukwu, with his antics of running to his solemn site of Igbo Nation every time he obtains his illegal and pyrrhic court victories.”

The APC said it stood with Ndi Anambra in applauding the judgment of the Abuja Federal High Court that sacked Umeh on Wednesday as the National Chairman of APGA.

Umeh has already filed an appeal to challenge the decision of the lower court which removed him as National Chairman.

APC urged the new National Chairman of APGA, Chief Maxi Okwu, to immediately move to court to quash the local government election held on January 11 and organise a free, fair and credible council poll for Anambra people.

The statement added: “The judgment comes at a time when Ndi Anambra found themselves at a crossroads following the dual gross miscarriage of justice and in the blanket disenfranchisement and thwarting of the wishes of the people first in the governorship election of November 16, 17, 30, 2013 and another macabre dance in the local government election just concluded on January 11, 2014.

“This judgment begins the process of restoring sanity and doing away with the culture of impunity and playing of God in Anambra State, where political jobbers and non-starters hold the State to ransom to further their selfish interests.

“As a law abiding national party that is growing in leaps and bounds daily, we will watch and follow with keen interest the developments following this damning judgment on the false and exaggerated person that Chief Victor Umeh has arrogated to himself in Anambra State in the recent past.”
