The All Progressives Congress attended the World Igbo Congress in Dallas, United States of America, to solicit the support of Igbo people for the new party.
In a presentation at the congress on Friday, South-East Zonal Publicity Secretary of the APC, Osita Okechukwu, said with all the support Ndi’gbo gave to the People’s Democratic Party, they had no stake in the ruling party.
Speaking to our correspondent from Dallas, Okechukwu lamented that the PDP could not consider it fit to zone any of the offices in the official protocol list at the federal level to Ndi’gbo.
He said, “With all the support of Ndigbo to PDP, they couldn’t consider it fit to zone any of the offices in the official protocol list – President, Vice-President, Senate President and Speaker – to Ndi’gbo, and even chairman of the party, with all the support over the years to PDP.”
Okechukwu, who is also the National Publicity Secretary of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, described the APC as a perfect choice for change.
He said the APC was the only progressive party in Nigeria anchored on the tenets of social democracy, socio-economic rights and the imperative to invest public funds in development of infrastructure.
Okechukwu noted that the APC, unlike the PDP, believed that the Nigerian economy was primitive and hence would provide for five development banks.
