There was indignation in Bayelsa State on Monday following the alleged killing of the former Governor Diepreye Alameisegha’s son, Mr. Oyemifa, in Dubai, the United Arab Emirate (UAE).

The Nation gathered that Oyemifa, second to the last child in the family and student, was killed in Dubai at the weekend.

His body was said to have been found on a street by the police who searched him and found his identify card.

Using the identification card, the police reportedly traced the home of Oyemifa only to discover that he came from “a big family.”

It was gathered that shortly after knowing the deceased background, the policemen left, but later came back to tell the family members in Alameiseigha’s house in Dubai that Oyemifa committed suicide.

The policemen reportedly based their claims on an autopsy they said was conducted on the body.

It was, however, learnt that the former governor was jolted by the news which hit him in Yenagoa, on Sunday just as his wife was said to have cried inconsolably.

Alameiseigha was said to have rejected the claims that his son who was in his mid 20s committed suicide.

The former governor reportedly left for Dubai on Monday alongside his first son, Tonbra, to determine the circumstances that led to the killing of his son.

A member of the family flayed the suicide theory and said they would unravel the cause of Oyemifa’s death.

The source who pleaded anonymity said Alameiseigha might stop over at Aso Rock in Abuja to brief President Goodluck Jonathan.

The source said: “Actually we got the information yesterday (Sunday). We didn’t initially believe it but we decided to call our family in Dubai to know what is happening.

“So, we called them and they said the information they brought to them was that his corpse was found on the street in Dubai. After finding the corpse, they checked it very well and discovered his ID card.

“They located the address through the ID card. After finding the house, they discovered that the deceased was a former governor’s son.

“They later came back again with the story that they worked on the corpse and found out that he committed a suicide. But Alameisegha said he was going to Dubai himself to find out what really happened.
