(APC) in the South East states have been charged to carry out full mobilisation and registration of members with sincerity and commitment.

Giving the charge during the APC South-East inaugural meeting held at the Ahiajioku Convention Centre, Owerri, Chairman of APC Governors’ Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, revealed that the exercise will be closely supervised to ensure that only the names of real people are registered as ‘one man, one vote’ counts in APC.

Okorocha, who is also the Imo State Governor, handed over the APC flag to each of the Interim Executive Committee Chairmen in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states. He urged them to work diligently as to register 1,000 credible members in their various wards within the specified period.

Owelle Okorocha maintained that APC remains the best option for Ndi-Igbo as it will offer them the leadership positions and opportunity to actualise the much-needed reformation that brings equality and fairness in national politics.

He stressed that his position in the party is a stepping stone to generational change that will breed a new crop of Igbo leaders. “I can see uncommon promotion, progress and peace in Igbo land, Igbos must sing a new song!” Owelle exclaimed.

He urged leaders and other supporters of APC not to allow tribal differences and diversity of interest to bring disunity but rather, they should focus on the common vision of bringing immediate ‘change’ which the party stands for.

In their reports read earlier, APC National Vice Chairman, South East, Dr. Anyim Nyerere, and National Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso, both assessed the APC as doing well and the number 1 party having wide acceptance in the South East as well as other parts of the country. They said the party leaders are people of integrity who carry everyone along irrespective of challenges.

On his part, Deputy National Chairman, South, Senator Annie Okonkwo, commended Governor Okorocha for his doggedness in bringing APC to the South East, describing APC as the right platform to reach the promised land of true democracy in Nigeria.

Contributing, Senator Chris Ngige said he was in the party to preach peace which the nation needs most and urged well meaning Nigerians to identify with the party.

Taking the oath of allegiance, the members of the Interim Executive Committees affirmed to abide by the constitutional guidelines and rules of APC and discharge their duties effectively.

Responding, the Abia State Committee Chairman, Hon. Donatus Nwamkpa, and the only female Committee Chairman, Mrs. Joy Ebeh from Enugu State, promised to ensure that about 150 persons will be registered per polling unit.

Adding her voice, the APC South East Women Coordinator, Dr. Mrs. Tina Adike (Aka-kpuchiri-onwa), said Nigerian women are now strong pillars in politics and are poised to support Governor Okorocha and other APC stalwarts to bring national victory in 2015.

Also present at the occasion were the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere; Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Anwukah; Chief of Staff/Commissioner for Special Duties, Sir Jude Ejiogu; Commissioners and other members of the Expanded Executive Council. Others were the APC Women National Leader, Chief (Mrs.) Sharon Ikpeazu, the APC Chairman, Imo State, Prince Marshall Okafor Anyanwu; and a host of others.
