The bait has been presidency in 2023. Apparently, there is a pact between the Fulani and the Yoruba, one that makes the Yoruba media turn a blind eye on the impostor in Aso Rock with 2023 presidential seat as reward.
But then, the Fulani has a tradition of breaking promises to the Yoruba nation. If then by 2023 the Fulani maintains this tradition, what is the Yoruba going to do? Push for an uprising over a fraud that has served its purpose? And supposing they do, will the other ethnicities be willing to join them when the purpose driving their match is clearly selfish? It doesn’t seem likely. They would rather be left to nurse their own wounds.
But should the Yoruba media and politicians open up now and help push for enthronement of justice, they stand to harvest more gains and, instant come to that. Their reward would be very dazzling and legendary.
First, this monumental fraud would most likely impair the ability of the Fulani to produce a president in Nigeria again in the near future. This as well might hurt their credibility to be considered for any political appointment in Nigeria and the world at large. In a nutshell, all would have waved goodbye to the Fulani oligarchy and their excesses. This certainly would open up more chances for the Yoruba nation.
Secondly, upon the uncovering of the Aso Rock fraud, the vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, a Yoruba man, will take over the mantle of leadership. From there, their continuous reign is assured.
Unless the Yoruba does what is right now, the Fulani is likely to maintain their tradition of disappointing them come 2023. The likes of Afonja, Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Remi Fani- Kayode, Chief MKO Abiola, Chief Bola Ige and former President Olusegun Obasanjo have been played for a fool by the Fulani. They gullibly aligned with Fulani leaders in the past and paid the price. This present crop of Yoruba political players should be wiser.
