FORMER governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2011 gubernatorial election in Edo State, Major General Charles Airhiavbere (rtd), has said that no amount of distraction or intimidation from the Boko Haram insurgents or any other group can stop President Goodluck Jonathan from seeking re-election in the 2015 general elections.
General Airhiavbere, who is Chairman and the National Coordinator of the Goodluck to Goodluck (G2G) 2015 project, in Benin, Edo State, yesterday, when he hosted over 4,500 ex-militants from Ijaw communities in the state, who visited him at the group’s secretariat in Benin, insisting that President Jonathan needed the support of every Nigerian to continue the good work he was doing for the country.

He told his visitors, who included some leaders of PDP in the state not to be disturbed by the activities of Boko Haram or other security challenges in the country, as they were just mere distractions.

He said: “Nigeria will not collapse under Jonathan. Nothing will stop Jonathan. God has ordained him and there is no going back on our mandate which is to return Jonathan in 2015. He is a moving train and will crush any obstacle on the way. We will do our best to ensure that there is no criminality or terrorism in Edo State.”
