Sixteen policemen were among the more than 300 people killed by the Boko Haram militants in Gamboru

Ngala, Borno State on Monday.

The Chairman of Ngala Local Government, Alhaji Bakura Mustapha, stated this in a telephone interview with our correspondent yesterday.

Mustapha, who went to area, also disclosed that some Camerounian traders were also killed during the attack.

“The death toll from the attack by suspected Boko Haram members on Gamboru Ngala is over 300. I just returned from the scene of the attack and amongst the dead were 16 policemen and some Cameroonian traders who were in the market as at the time of the attack.

“The casualty figures I had from the residents of the area before visiting the scene was far lower than what I and the team sent by the state government witnessed in Gamboru.

“We are giving some relief materials to the people while those that sustained injuries are being treated in the hospital,” Mustapha said.
