Adam Scott got his week off to the worst possible start with a putting shocker during the opening round of the US Open.
The former world No 1 made a nervous start to the tournament at Erin Hills, suffering a rare lapse of concentration with the flat stick at the opening hole.
Scott recovered from finding the rough off the tee to reaching the par-five green in three and leaving himself a 15-foot look for birdie.
The Australian’s attempt was tentatively left 18 inches short and seemed to leave a kick-in par, only for him to careless miss the cup with his little tiddler.
Scott came close to dropping another stroke with his third attempt, with his putt from a similar distance just catching the edge of the hole and dropping in for a bogey-six.
