Paul Casey punched the air with delight after chipping in for eagle. The only problem was, his ball refused to drop into the hole!

Casey was left dumbfounded by the incident on the par-five seventh hole during the final round of the Dell Technologies Championship, and playing-partner Jordan Spieth was equally baffled as to how the ball stayed out.

The Englishman came up just short of the putting surface with his second shot to leave a routine pitch from around 50 feet, and he appeared to play the perfect third as his ball trundled towards the centre of the cup.

But after Casey raised his arm in triumph expecting the ball to disappear, it hit the base of the pin and ricocheted onto the lip before taking a hop forward and settling on the green a few inches from the hole.

Casey sank to his haunches in disbelief, and even Spieth had his hand on his head as he sympathised with his playing companion on his bad break.
