Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and General Ibrahim Babangida did not

attend a meeting called by President Goodluck Jonathan to discuss the
security situations in Nigeria and the 2015 general elections.

While Babangida said he is unable to attend the meeting because of the
death of the Senator Awaisu Kuta, the Senator representing his district in
Niger State, Obasanjo did not give any official reason for not attending.

The meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, lasted for over an hour.

Sources told Pointblanknews.com that the spate of terror attacks in the
country, the kidnap of the over 200 Chibok girls and the tension building
up ahead of the 2015 general election were reasons President Jonathan
called for the meeting.

As at the time of going to press, only General Yakubu Gowon, General
Mohammadu Buhari, Chief Earnest Shonekan, Alhaji Shehu Shagari and General
Abdulsalami Abubakar were at the meeting.

The Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Kashim Shettima was also at the meeting.
