Sultan-of-Sokoto-02Nigeria “seems to be gradually sliding into lawlessness” and “there is the urgent need for proactive and effective ways to addressing these precarious security upheavals as been witnessed in the country.”

This is the position of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) after taking stock of the latest round of killings in parts of the country’s North. JNI described the attack on innocent persons at Bama, Borno State, and the today’s killing of Dr. Musa Muhammad Dambam, the Medical Director, Federal Medical (FMC), Azare and the District Head of Yama in Bauchi State, as ungodly, heinous and utterly reprehensible.

A statement signed by the Secretary General Dr. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu and made available to News Express in Kaduna reads: “Once again, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) under the leadership of His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, JNI received with shock the cruel and merciless attacks on innocent persons at Bama and Damboa local governments and that of yesterday (Saturday, 31st August, 2013) night said to have been carried out near Maiduguri, all of Borno State, which resulted in loss of many lives. Similarly, the brutal and gruesome killings of Dr. Musa Muhammad Dambam, Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare, and the District Head of Yame, all in Bauchi State today (Sunday, 1st September, 2013) are condemned in the strongest terms, as they are ungodly, heinous acts and utterly reprehensible.

“However, JNI calls for calm and restraint. As it has always been our prayers, that whatsoever is the motive of the devilish criminals reported to be dressed in military muftis (Monguno and Yame attacks), they will never see the light of the day insha’Allah.

“JNI and the Sultan lament this sorry state of affairs in the strongest terms, for the nation seems to be gradually sliding into lawlessness leading to quantum losses of lives, on frequent basis, especially in Borno State, despite many said efforts to nip the situation.

“JNI uses this medium to advise the security agencies in Borno State to supplement firmness with measures that is sufficiently seen to be just and humane to earn the people’s trust, support and co-operation to enable overcome criminal elements, causing night mares on innocent citizenries. As these repeated acts call for concerted introspection, as they again point to the fact that there is the urgent need for proactive and effective ways to addressing these precarious security upheavals as been witnessed in the country.

“JNI sends its condolences to the Government and good people of Borno and Bauchi States as well as to Their Royal Highnesses, the Shehu of Borno and Bama, over the unfortunate recurring attacks in Bama, Damboa, and Maiduguri, all in Borno State. We also commiserate with the families of the victims of those callous attacks and condole with the parents and guardians who lost their wards in the misfortune. We pray the Almighty Allah, the Most High to grant all the deceased forgiveness and mercy, while those that sustained injuries quick recovery, amin.

“Therefore, Muslims are called upon as usual not to be oblivious of the significance of supplications (Du’a), therefore they are so requested to fervently intensify prayers for the restoration of peace, development and security in Nigeria, as Nigeria cannot exist without Nigerians.”
