The Grand Deception

Remember that Shekau made a video threatening Buhari after the president paid crocodile tears condolences to Borno following Boko Haram Auno attack. Of course the president offered no solace to the victims – he blamed them for the attacks, exactly the same way he blamed victims of bandit’s attacks in Katsina.

On his way out of Maiduguri, residents who have had enough lined out to boo the president. Two hours later Boko Haram struck again killing another twenty-five. Many right thinking people believe the attack was a retaliation for booing their chief sponsor. This line of thought was beginning to gain momentum when Shekau released his video. Again many rightly saw that video as an attempt to sway public opinion, an attempt to absolve the president of the smear of chief Boko Haram ally. By appearing to threaten him, Shekau seeks to paint the picture that Buhari is an enemy. Too late.

How can he be your enemy when actually he is your chief benefactor? The first thing Buhari did upon assuming office as president was to order the army to stop killing Boko Haram. He won’t change the army chiefs because he carefully picked them to work in synergy with the terrorists. And they have not failed him. The army chiefs and Buhari have been unprovoked even when Boko Haram kill service men. Sometimes the murdered soldiers were selected and deliberately placed on harm’s way.

Each killing of soldiers by Boko Haram has been marked by releasing hundreds of detained Boko Haram members in what looks like a thank-you for job well done. Neither the president nor his army chiefs have ever used foul language against the insurgents, nor have they talked tough as they have against IPOB members. Neither the president nor his army chiefs have talked tough against Fulani herdsmen. It is in the news right now that Miyetti Allah issued a statement saying that they will overrun southeast and destroy the region. It’s just so easy for them to threaten whoever they wish. Nobody dare caution them, not to talk of arresting them. But to bury royal martyrs in Afaraukwu, Abia state, the military sent heavy deployment. Ironic, Isn’t it?

Now a senior assistant director at Aso rock has been assassinated – a Christian lady. This murder is from within. But they did it to help feed the insinuation that Boko Haram can indeed target the presidency, they want to cement the deception that Shekau is truly after Buhari.

The NASS are in panic mood as well. I read what looked like the senate president is contemplating forming National assembly security outfit. They have succeeded in binding hearts with fear. Some of us are not deceived though – we know the presidency is in command of the security situation and are directly responsible for all the killings.
