Join us for an exciting week of action from Montreal, where big-name players including Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are set to kick-start their US Open preparations.
We will bring you the very best action from the Uniprix Stadium, Jarry Park, live across our platforms, with the first-round matches beginning on Monday.
Fresh from winning Wimbledon, Federer, a two-time winner of the Rogers Cup, is named on the entry list for the tournament which plays a key role in the lead-up to the US Open, the final major of the year. The 19-time Grand Slam champion, should he take part, will face considerable competition from the likes of Rafael Nadal, home favourite Milos Raonic.
The tournament’s line-up includes the world’s top players – but Andy Murray, a three-time champion of the tournament, who had been undergoing an extensive rehabilitation program following his hip injury issues which impacted his performances at Wimbledon, has pulled out. Stan Wawrinka and Wimbledon finalist Marin Cilic will also be absent.
Novak Djokovic, who has dropped to No 5 in the ATP rankings, is out for the rest of the year with an elbow injury and therefore will be unable to defend his title. Last year the event was held in Toronto as the two cities alternate the task of hosting.
Raonic, who is the only direct entry into the main draw, has dropped to No 10 and will be the ninth seed. That means he won’t receive a bye in the first round and could face a notable name in the third round.
Qualifying rounds will begin on Saturday and will determine the beneficiaries of the final 12 available places within the main draw of the hard-court tournament.
We will have the Masters 1000 series in Montreal and Cincinnati covered via our website skysports.com/tennis and you will also be able to watch all the action live on Sky Sports.
