The newly inaugurated Youth Wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural  group, Ohaneze Ndigbo has threatened should there be any attack on the  Igbo nation, the group will follow with a reprisal.

Recent arrests of suspected members of the dread islamic sect,  Boko-Haram  in the south-east geo-political zone had sent shocking waves  in the region.

In his inaugural address at the Ohaneze secriatariat,7 Park avenue,  GRA, Enugu, the President General of Ohaneze Youth Wing, Mr. Okechukwu  Isiguzoro, declared that with the inauguration of the youth wing, “the  elephant of the Igbo nation is finally on its feet”.

“My administration is hinged on a 3-point agenda; security, youth  empowerment and re-orientation. Insecurity poses a serious developmental  challenge to our people.

“Investors will be flat-footed to invest in our area if the security  situation is not guaranteed. This prevailing situation has led to  burgeoning unemployment situation in the region. That is why my  leadership will fight acts of kidnapping, armed robbery and other  criminal activities which constitute insecurity to a standstill.

“We call on Igbo industrialists having their businesses domicile in  other parts of the country to emulate Innoson, Juhel and Peace Mass  Transit. While it is good for the Ndigbo to travel all over the world to  invest there, we urge them never to neglect the development of their  homeland.

The youth leader promised to revive Igbo cosmology, ethos, values and  culture insisting that without such ingredients, Igbo cannot forge a  common front in matters of collective interest.

He called on the Federal Government to increase its presence in the  region as statistics has shown that the region is bereaved of projects  when compared to other zones in the country.

Continuing, the youth PG re-affirmed the resolve of Igbo youths to  support the restructuring of Nigeria into six geo-political zones even  as he commended the south-west for stoutly defending the position at the  ongoing national conference.
