President-Goodluck-JonathanThe Secretary, Presidential Advisory Committee on National Conference, Dr. Akilu Sani-Indabawa, has said the committee has not received any submission calling for the ‘break-up’ of Nigeria.

He stated this on Sunday in Zaria in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, shortly after members of the committee visited the Emir of Zazzau, Dr. Shehu Idris.

“From our consultations in 11 states visited so far, there is no single submission that agitated for the break-up of Nigeria.

“We are happy that Nigerians have indicated interest to live together in peace,” he noted.

The secretary appreciated the role of the media in promoting activities of the committee since its establishment.

NAN reports that some Nigerians had expressed concern that convening the Conference could give room for calls for the break-up of the country.

Earlier Chairman of the Committee, Sen. Femi Okorounmu, had told the Emir.

“We want Nigerians to tell us how large the conference should be, how the delegates should be chosen, duration of the conference and whether or not, they want our recommendations to be part of the constitution.

Responding, the emir described the formation of the committee as ideal.
