Andy Murray has withdrawn from next week’s Rogers Cup in Montreal as he continues his recovery from a hip injury.

The world No 1 was undergoing an extensive rehabilitation program following his injury issues which impacted his performances at Wimbledon.

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have been named on the entry list for the tournament, live on Sky Sports Action, which plays a key role in the lead-up to the US Open, the final major of the year.

“I am sad to be missing the tournament in Montreal because I have many great memories from my time in Canada,” Murray said in a statement.

“I am doing everything I can to return as quickly as possible.”

Murray, a three-time Canada winner whose most recent title there came in 2015, has not played competitively since a five-set loss to American Sam Querrey in a Wimbledon quarter-final last month.

We will have the Masters 1000 series in Montreal and Cincinnati covered via our website skysports.com/tennis and you will also be able to watch all the action live on Sky Sports.
