The Press statement released by Comrade Emma Powerful, the IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, on Wednesday 11th July 2018, is not just timely but a wake up call to Biafrans for the upcoming referendum. Presently, there are series of diplomatic outreaches and discussional engagements of the leadership of the IPOB with relevant governments, bodies and individuals across the globe, regarding the project. All hands therefore must be on deck at this conclusive push of the struggle for the Biafra restoration. All the ongoing diplomatic persuasions of influence at foreign corridors as pointed out in the Press statement coupled with the strategic meetings involving very reputable and selected stakeholders drawn from within Biafraland, are the required basics being employed for favorable referendum exercise. It becomes necessary for the people who are seriously yearning for the pronouncement of the referendum date to understand that until all preparatory discussions are concluded and rough edges smoothed, giving a date now will be immature.
All that is needed from Biafrans globally at this moment are prayers and unalloyed support to the diplomatic team of the IPOB leadership as they meet with relevant and diverse foreign governments/ representatives and also selected stakeholders at the home front. Confidently, the IPOB diplomatic team and the representatives on discussion tables with foreign leaders and in Biafraland, will most certainly deliver on their mandates. This is tasking though but achievable. It is incumbent upon all the Indigenous People of Biafra globally, to intensify their campaigns for the referendum as these very strategic dialogues continue. Most assuredly, the date for the first phase of the exercise will soon be rolled out.
The leadership of the IPOB is tenaciously, using the window period of these strategic dialogues to also create the needed atmosphere to resolve all impediments in respect of the Biafra referendum. This will finally lay to rest, all suspicions. All feelings of animosity, insecurity and blackmail that will prop up from the elitist class amongst others, in an independent Biafra would have been totally eradicated. There will no more be discordant tunes as every voice in Biafraland, the class notwithstanding, will be unanimous in their declarations. The consistency and the wisdom of the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra therefore, are the keys.
Conclusively, Biafrans must remain focused on and committed to the directives of the IPOB leadership as the eventual Biafra independence is just few moments away. The time of sleeping in Nigeria and waking up in Biafra is already here with us and the accomplishment of that dream is just much closer to us than imagined. Let us remain undeterred.
