CONTINUED ABDUCTION, INCARCERATION AND FORCEFUL DISAPPEARANCE OF IPOB MEMBERS, A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY

Just recently, a world well recognised human rights organisation, Amnesty International (AI) took to twitter social media network to celebrate the world forceful disappearance day of people. According to the twitter message, Amnesty International accused the Nigerian Army of forcefully abducting people resulting to their disappearance and Biafrans are the highest victims of this barbarity.
However, the forceful disappearance of indigenous people of Biafra in several parts of Biafraland have continued unabated and there seems to be no slowing down by the Nigerian security agencies in this illegal abduction as Biafrans now live in fear and danger of extermination in their respective homes.
You will recall that since the beginning of the current Biafra agitation pioneered by IPOB and her leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the Nigerian military has heightened the illicit arrest and unlawful incarceration of the indigenous people of Biafra and in most cases held them incommunicado. The indigenous people of Biafra are being terrified and mistreated on a daily bases by the Nigerian security forces with direct command from the Nigerian seat of power in Abuja. In Novernber 2016, a reputable world human rights organisation called Amnesty International released an authentic, well researched and investigative report with forensic evidences to substantiate their claim on the massacre of Biafrans on 30th May, 2016, during their yearly heroes remembrance day that took place at Nkpor, Anambra state by the Nigerian Army. According to the report from the stable of the Amnesty International (AI), at least 150 IPOB members were murdered in cold blood by the Nigerian combined security forces in which Amnesty International (AI) have charged the governor of the state where unarmed Biafrans were slained to investigate the heinous crime so as to bring the perpetrators to book.
However, the status quo has remain the same as there is now an ongoing manhunt of unarmed Biafrans from place to place, street to street and house to house. Though Biafrans have always been targeted for mischievous annihilation and secret abduction, but the situation has worsened and aggravated by the infamous Nation wide broadcast by the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari upon his return to the country after spending 105 days in London for medical tourism. In his six minutes broadcast, Buhari refused to address the three months quit notice ultimatum given to Biafrans residing in the Northern part of Nigeria by Arewa youths ordering Biafrans to leave the region before October 1st, but rather he ordered the security agencies to treat IPOB as terrorist Bokoharam and exclaimed the “Unity of Nigeria is non-negotiable”. To all discerning minds, it is treasonous for the illiterate Arewa youths to issue such an eviction and highly provocative order to those even president Buhari addressed as “fellow citizens”, it is really ridiculous.
Moreover, the unguarded utterances by the Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari, has to a greater length forced the combined Nigerian security apparatus to carrying out the threats of mistreating Biafrans as ordered by the president in his ill- fated and infamous speech. As a matter of fact, the Nigerian military, police and other security apparatus are leaving no stone unturned as to obeying the order with heightened aggression leading to unprecedented forceful disappearance of anyone found with or in possession of any Biafra materials such as flags, wristbands, necklaces, caps and any other Biafra materials. All these are going on in defiance of law of freedom of association and lawful assembly, despite that IPOB has been pronounced legal by a Nigerian competent court of jurisdiction presided over by Justice Binta Nyako of federal high court Abuja, Nigeria.
As such, Biafrans are now left at the mercy of the murderers in Nigerian military regalia.
As Martin Luther King jr said,
“The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people”
I am hereby calling on the world, human rights organisations, men and women of good conscience from all over the world, to prevail on the Nigerian government to respect human rights of innocent unarmed Biafrans and desist from further harassment, intimidation, brutalization and genocidal orgy of violent on Biafrans. Self-determination is not a crime , but an inalienable rights of every indigenous people as enshrined in the United Nations Charter and African Charter on people’s rights which Nigeria as a member state is signatory to. All Biafrans are demanding in one voice is a date for Biafra referendum. A call for Referendum is not a call for War as mischievously being touted by Nigerian establishment.
Furthermore, the Nigerian government should stop her fragrant disobedience to court orders and speedily release all the IPOB members locked up in different secret cells across the nation, as they are still being held against the law, despite the court orders for their release either on bail or unconditionally. Meanwhile, notable Biafran political prisoners among them are Benjamin Madubugwu , Chidiebere Onwudiwe, David Nwawusi, Bright Chimezie Ishinwa and many others.
“We will remember not the words of our enemies but the silence of our friends”
Martin Luther King jr.
Finally, Biafrans have been advised to boycott all subsequent Nigerian organised elections in Biafraland starting with the proposed gubernatorial election billed to take place on 18th November, 2017 in Anambra state. This directive from the IPOB leadership will be carried out to the later because it is our right and civil disobedience is no crime as it is rudimentary and pivotal in freedom fighting.
