There is apprehension in Okpo Community, Enugu  Ezike, Igbo- Eze North Local Government Area of  Enugu State following  the murder of a man and his seven-month pregnant wife.
The victims, identified as Ogbuenyi Idoko, were murdered in their  bedroom, had their throats slashed with a sharp knife while their blood  was collected in a bucket by their killers.
This is happening three months after the murder of Mabel Udaya, a  24-year-old woman in the same community by suspected ritualists.
Sources told Daily Sun that the victims were killed probably  on Friday night, leaving their three year old daughter between their  corpses.  It was the cry of the little girl on Saturday afternoon that  drew the attention of a neighbour who came into the compound and saw the  gory sight of the couple before raising the alarm.
Giving further insight into the killing, an indigene of the  community, who craved anonymity, said that the deceased couple were poor  people in the village.
The source maintained that there is a network of killers and  ritualists operating in the community who are probably behind such  bloodshed in recent times.
Our source maintained that two people from the community working with  a suspected killer who were arrested in connection with Mabel’s death  were surprisingly released by the police through the influence of a  prominent member of the community.
The traditional ruler, Igwe Patrick Okenyi, condemned the killing and  said the people are helpless over the strange murders. He said they  have lodged a formal report to the police.
As at press time, some women from the community with some male  delegates were at the police command headquarters over the kill
