Gov-obi-votingPeoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and business mogul, Chief Arthur Eze, has fingered Governor Peter Obi for the crisis that has trailed the governorship election in Anambra State held last Saturday.

However, Anambra State government has dismissed the complaints of business mogul, Chief Arthur Eze about the recent governorship election in the state.

Reacting to Eze’s declaration, Special Adviser to Governor Obi on Media, Mr. Valentine Obienyem, stated that the businessman was angry because his candidate lost the election. He accused Eze of trying to return to the government of Anambra after Obi had rescued the state from people like him.

The statement stated: “In a decent society, nobody takes the views of people like Dr. Arthur Eze seriously for many reasons. It is understandable that he is angry that his minion, Tony Nwoye, through whom he wanted to hijack Anambra State again did not win. We therefore, forgive him for vomiting bile and speaking with indiscretion he is known for.

The key candidates for the elections are Tony Nwoye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chris Ngige of All Progressives Congress (APC), Williams Obiano of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Godwin Ezeemo of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) and Ifeanyi Ubah of Labour Party (LP).

The polls however, ran into hitches, as election materials did not get to Idemili North Local Government Area, believed to be strongholds of Ngige, while APGA claimed it won election.

While the APC has consistently called for the outright cancellation of the election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, blamed the hitches on a saboteur within the commission and announced plans to conduct supplementary election in troubled places. Speaking to State House correspondents, after a meeting with the Vice President, Namadi Sambo, Eze, carpeted Obi for seeking to impose his man, Obiano, on the people.

He also accused Obi of governing the state in an unsatisfactory manner for eight years and seeking to impose his “treasurer” by “rigging an election against the poor people.”

Eze urged Nigerians to pray, saying future elections may also be in danger.

He stated: “Obi committed a crime and rigged election against the poor people and brought his man, Obiano. For eight years, there were no local government elections in Anambra, now he brought Obiano, his treasurer to take over from him. Now, Obiano will spend eight years and bring somebody, then we are in trouble.

“It’s for the poor, not for me, the needy, the orphan, not me. I am an old man, I am going. It’s because of the poor that I am crying,” he said.
