WE CANNOT ALLOW UWAZURUIKE TO FACE TRIAL FOR TREASON WHEN BOKO HARAM IS BEING OFFERED AMNESTY FOR KILLING BIAFRANS
That the government of Nigeria led by Goodluck Ebele Jonathan should sanction the detention and commital to trial for treasonable felony against Uwazuruike and other MASSOB members is indicative of the utter hopelessness and disdain in which Biafrans at large and Igbos in particular are held in Nigeria. The fact that Uwazuruike has been working closely with the Nigerian authorities to arrest and detain genuine Biafrans and was conferred with the title of Peace Ambassador by the First Lady of Nigeria Mrs Patience Jonathan in a ceremony at Aso Rock did not deter the authorities from recommending that the charge of treasonable felony against Uwazuruike proceed to full trial. It should be noted that the charge of treasonable felony was also brought against Ganiyu Adams of Odua Peoples Congress and Asari Dokubo of Niger Delta Volunteer Force. Yet both these men are free today but the Hausa/Fulani dominated Nigerian judiciary knowing fully well that they have compromised and weakened Uwazuruike decided to move against him because he called for a national strike on the 8th of June 2013 to highlight the rape and killing of 6 unarmed Igbo traders by Hausa/Fulani policemen in Abuja in 2005.
To make matters worse, those responsible for the killing of Igbos all over Nigeria are free and some have been paid compensation for killing Igbo people yet Uwazuruike who has been working closely with PDP is now facing trial. Regardless of internal ideological differences between Biafrans, Radio Biafra will not allow Uwazuruike to face treasonable charges within Nigeria without severe consequences for all concerned. We therefore call on the Goodluck Jonathan’s Government of Nigeria to withdraw these laughable charges and set Uwazuruike and the others free if they are in detention as is widely suspected. This humiliation has gone on too far. Uwazuruike and MASSOB have never caused any real damage to the fabric or territorial integrity of Nigeria. Boko Haram that are wreaking havoc and mayhem are in line to be compensated with billions of dollars of oil revenue gotten from the same Biafraland where Igbos come from. This is a lesson to all concerned that working with Nigeria never brings any reward instead it will bring you shame humiliation and death.
