CULTISM: Police Arrest 16 Suspect

sshot-1862The police in Agbor, Delta State, have arrested no fewer than 16 suspected cultists of different cult groups after their planned initiation of new members around Boji Boji Owa bush path.

In recent times, security agencies in Ika metropolis have been called upon by residents to redouble their efforts in tackling various challenges including renewed cult activities and rape.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Celestina Kalu, said that the suspects were arrested on a tip-off by the police during their planned initiation process, disclosing that the police recovered six cut to size guns, various kinds of calabash and some charms.

DSP Kalu said that the police have mobilized into 24 hour surveillance in the entire Ika Metropolis with a view to bringing all the criminals to book.

It was reliably gathered that cult related activities have last month of October claimed the lives of three persons who were allegedly involved in sporadic shoot out with a rival cult group.

Speaking further, the Police Public Relations Officer explained that the suspects currently helping the police for further investigations disclosed that six suspected members of Aiye Confraternity have been arrested in the last two weeks in the area.

She said that the suspects had made useful statement to the police and warned parents/guardians to monitor their children, who may have been involved in criminal activities, to stop their nefarious activities as the police would do everything possible to bring to book those behind the criminal activities.
