The traditional ruler of Amagu, Umulokpa in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Igwe Udedbor Dominic, and three others have being issued bench warrants for refusing to appear at a magistrate court sitting in Enugu.
The Magistrate, G. C. Amadi of Enugu South Magisterial District gave the order in an oral application made by the prosecutor, ASP Peter Eze, following the refusal of the traditional ruler and his group to appear to face a criminal charges slammed against them for two consecutive adjourned dates even when their counsel applied for those dates.
The magistrate regretted how a traditional ruler would fragrantly refuse to appear before the court to face criminal charges against him even when he was properly put on notice.
“The traditional ruler was summoned on January, 15 but refused to appear and one of counsel’s pleaded with that and asked the court for 22nd January. Today, he is not in the court either the counsel that asked that court till today”, said the magistrate.
His Royal Highness, Igwe Udedibor, Emmanuel Maduegbunam, Benjamin Chukwuma and Innocent Udedibor are facing five counts charge in a charge No. MES/06c/2014, which borders on promoting local war, conspiracy, threats of lives, ostracizing of some members of the community and among others.
