Economic integration of Igbos in the Diaspora

The South East C o m m u n i t i e s D eve l o p m e n t Association (SECDA), Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Igbo professionals in Diaspora have commenced moves improve the economic and infrastructural development of the region. Rising from a meeting in Enugu, representatives of Ndigbo in the Diaspora, Dr. Anayo Robert Dikeukwu and Dr. Chinweike Justus Okey Nwosu, announced that Igbo in Diaspora were ready to pull resources together to transfer technology and build industrial villages across the region.

Crimes behind death executions in Edo State

Daniel Nsofor: was travelling from Ekpan to Ehor along with two others and a lady called Maria Imariagbe. At about 07:15pm, they disembarked from the vehicle at Ehor and then they attacked their victim, Maria Imariagbe. They strangled her to death and stole her money.

In Borno & Plateau States 70 persons killed

No fewer than 70 persons including some leaders of Boko Haram were killed in both Borno and Plateau States during separate skirmishes in the last three days in the country. Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram, also had last night reportedly killed a soldier and abducted three others during an attack on the military in Potiskum, Yobe state, a military source revealed.

3 people abducts in Yobe and Boko Haram kills soldier

Gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram, last night killed a soldier and abducted three others during an attack on the military in Potiskum town of Yobe State, a military source revealed. The incident was disclosed to journalists by a soldier in an a chat at Damaturu, the Yobe State capital. The source said the corpse of the affected soldier had been brought to Damaturu from Potiskum and deposited at an hospital morgue.

Anambra polytechnic endanger of erosion threatens N7.5bn projects

The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, has raised the alarm over the threat of erosion at its permanent site in Oko, where completed and ongoing buildings and other infrastructure are washed away by erosion. The Rector of the polytechnic, Prof. Godwin Onu, who visited the permanent site on Thursday after flood washed away a sizable proportion of the permanent site, said the level of intervention needed was beyond what the polytechnic could afford.

Fresh clashes in Plateau 33 killed

No fewer than 33 persons have been killed in the renewed violence between the Fulani and indigenous Taroh communities of Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State.Among the dead were said to be students sitting for the 2013 National Examination Council.A local pastor of the Church of Christ in Nations,   Rev. Nandip Miri, told our correspondent on the telephone he lost his father and brother in the attack. Fighting was said to have been raging in the restive Plateau south for the past 48 hours as the indigenes of Bolgang, Magama and Karkashi districts of Langtang South  battle some invaders suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.Our correspondent gathered that  24 people were killed in Magama, while nine others were killed in Bolgang.

Chukwu Imo lawmaker escapes attack for youths

The member representing Ohaji/Egbema local government area in Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Luke Chukwu, at a stakeholders’ meeting narrowly escaped mob attack from aggrieved youths of the area.Vanguard gathered that participants had to scamper into safety as soon as they noticed that the anger of the youths was getting to a feverish pitch. It was also gathered that the youths hinged their anger on the rumour making the rounds that Chief Chukwu was part of the state government’s plot to relocate “some vital departments” of Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, to other parts of the state.Armed with this belief, the angry youths stormed the venue of the meeting called by Chukwu and turned everywhere upside down.
