Confusion over amnesty offer to Boko Haram terrorists members

Did President Goodluck Jonathan offer Boko Haram members amnesty on Democracy Day or not? This is the subject of a controversy now raging among top officials of the Federal Government.At the centre of the controversy are the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati and Youth Development Minister Boni Haruna.Abati said yesterday that there was no truth in Haruna’s statement that President Jonathan had offered amnesty to the insurgents.

At least 42 people were in the early hours of yesterday killed when some suspected members of Boko Haram sect attacked three border villages of Kanari, Wazarde and Gula villages of Gamboru Ngala Local Government area of Borno State.Just on May 5, 2014, Gamboru Ngala was on fire, when some terrorists ambushed its main market, killing over 300 people, including 16 policemen and other traders from Cameroon Republic, while the entire market and some vehicles were set ablaze.
