8 died, 20 injured in Monday afternoon blast in Kano

It was bloody yesterday in Kano. A bomb ripped through the School of Hygiene, killing eight and injuring 20.The school is opposite Sabon Kofar on the Bayero University (BUK) Road. The explosion occurred at about 2:05 p.m., damaging eight vehicles parked  in the premises.Commissioner of Police Adenrele Shinaba told reporters at the scene of the incident that a suspect had been arrested.“We are yet to establish whether the bomb was planted inside the school premises or was primed inside a vehicle; but all we can say is that an explosion occurred in that school at about 2:05 p.m.”, he said.

Kano Government send delegation to Abia to secure release of detained 486 Boko Haram terrorist

The Kano State Government yesterday dispatched a powerful delegation to Aba in Abia State to seek the release of its indigenes among the 486 traders arrested by security operatives last week in Aba.The Commissioner for Information, Dr Danburan Abubabar, who disclosed this in a telephone chat, explained that the delegation had since arrived Abia State and has commenced discussions with the state government officials.The team, led by the Commissioner for Special Duties, General Idris Dambazau (rtd.), was mandated to determine the specific number of Kano indigenes among the detainees and the nature of their offences.
