The Northern delegates to the ongoing National Conference have given reasons why they are opposed to the creation of an additional state for the South East.Spokesman of the delegates, Mr Anthony Sani, who made this known, said “the issue of an additional state for South-East purely on the basis of equality ignores the fact that equality is not one and the same thing with equity.’’Quoting Aristotle, Sani said: “Injustice is not only when equals are treated unequally but also when unequals are treated equally.”

North rejects President Jonathan’s lobby on six-year single term

Strong indications have emerged that northern delegates at the on-going National Conference, under the auspices of Northern Delegates Forum, NDF, have again rejected President Goodluck Jonathan’s fresh lobby over six-year single term tenure in office.National Mirror gathered that the Presidency had planned to lobby delegates for the adoption of the controversial tenure advanced by the president, with stiff resistance from the northern participants, months before the commencement of the conference.Apart from the lobby, intense pressure was said to have been mounted on delegates for the inclusion of the presidency’s proposal of single term.
