Northern delegates at the on-going National Conference, under the auspices of Northern Delegates Forum, NDF, yesterday told Nigerians not to allow Boko Haram insurgency to divide the nation, describing the banning of registration of citizens by President Goodluck Jonathan as a good development.

A statement signed by the NDF’s spokesman, Anthony Sani, reminded Nigerians that the current challenges should not redefine the country’s togetherness.

The statement read: “Now that Mr. President and the National Assembly have spoken against any plans to register indigenes of some sections of Nigeria, and against the deportation of Nigerians to their states, there is no need to hype the controversy.

“After all, two wrongs cannot make a right. This appeal has become very necessary, lest the controversy tilt the nation state towards the tipping point.

“It is still the considered opinion of Northern delegates that Nigerians should not allow our current challenges to redefine our togetherness, precisely because the current challenges will come to pass, given purposeful leaders at all levels and the best in everyone,” it added.
