Almost 1/3 of people worldwide overweight, says new study

The study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, examined obesity-related health issues for a period of 25 years between 1990 and 2015. It found that in 2015, 2.2 billion people, or 30 percent of the world’s population, could be described as overweight with a body mass index (BMI) higher than 30.
