Archbishop Obinna made his feelings known while preaching the sermon during the dedication of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Emekuku, Owerri North local council area of Imo State.
It was the considered opinion of the fiery Catholic cleric that the former military ruler possibly reacted because well meaning people of the world, including the leadership of Organization of Islamic Countries, OIC, have risen in condemnation of the dastardly acts of the insurgents.
He queried why Buhari wasted so much time before condemning the sordid activities of the Islamic fundamentalists and wondered if his current comment would not be safely linked with his touted aspiration in the forthcoming general elections.
Obinna pleaded with the citizenry to vote wisely during the 2015 general elections, as well as avoid the dreaded sect like a plague.
Taking a hard look at the education sector, Archbishop Obinna commended the immediate past governors of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, for moving schools in his state to enviable heights.
“In just two years of concentrating efforts in education, Anambra is now ahead of Imo in the sector. Obi recognized the efforts of the church and assisted it immensely”, Obinna said.
The Archbishop also recalled that “Anambra people are greater than us in wealth and riches and now, they have overtaken Imo in education”.
He equally used the event to announce that the Archdiocese remains committed to the establishment of a Catholic University in Imo State and urged the laity to not only get prepared for the take off of the institution but also make contributions towards its actualization.
