Asari-Dokubo-2The Muslims Rights Concern (MURIC) on Wednesday advised the  leader of the out-lawed Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force  (NDPVF), Asari Dokubo, to stop heating up the polity by making unguarded  statements.
Dokubo had on Tuesday reiterated that his kinsmen in the oil-rich  Niger Delta would foment trouble if President Goodluck Jonathan failed  to secure second term ticket in 2015.
He also advised northerners not to seek election into the presidency  on the platform of the ruling PDP and the main opposition All  Progressives Congress (APC).
The Director of MURIC, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, in statement said that  the utterance by Dokubo to make the nation ungovernable was “uncalled  for.
“MURIC, therefore, appeals to President Goodluck Jonathan to call Asari Dokubo to order.
“A statement from the presidency on this issue is of strategic  importance at this material time in the history of our dear nation.
“We reiterate for the avoidance of doubt, MURIC as a human rights  organisation is not witch-hunting any political party or individual.
“We are concerned about peace and stability in our dear country.
“Silence over critical issues is harmful to us as well as to the polity.
“It is the duty of religious groups to speak out in this hard time.
“Past experience has shown that it is even the poor who suffers most each time this country is engulfed in crisis.
“We want peace. We, therefore, appeal to all stakeholders to sheath their swords,” the group said. (NAN)
