The relative peace in Jos, the Plateau State capital, was shattered yesterday when twin-bomb explosions went off in the city, killing about 118 people.“The exact figure of the dead bodies recovered as of now is 118,” Mohammed Abdulsalam, co-ordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, North-Central, told AFP.He added that “more bodies may be in the debris” of buildings which collapsed due to the intensity of the blasts.

Senate approves emergency rule extension in three states

The Senate yesterday approved President Goodluck Jonathan’s request for an extension of emergency rule in the three North-Eastern states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.
